Remember when we were all kids,
and we couldn't wait to grow up.
We thought life would be better,
with the freedoms we would have.
Trying to be grown upwe thought we knew it all.
We didn't care what our words did,
or the effect they'd have on those we said them to.
Who would have thought,we all would be wrong.
All starting out as friends,
we didn't know what popularity was.
As the years passed by,
slowly is what we thought.
The words became more severe,
as well as the effect they had.
Now here we are as adults,
with children we are forced to reflect.
Are we teaching ours to follow us,
or have we gotten smart enough to know better.
Teaching our children that words hurt,
and can have a devestating effect.
How can we teach our children right from wrong,
when that's what we did all along.
Do those who said the words that cut so deep,
realize those who heard them, still hurt.
An appology barely heals the wounds,
that have been allowed to sit unhealed.
Instead those wounds have made one strong,
an allowed the victim to grow strong.
The victim, who once cried all the time,
now has no tears to shed.
Teaching the child to keep the head high,
and to ignore those who would cause pain.
Remember when we were children,
and we thought we knew everything?
Remember when we were all friends,
and saw no differences at all?
